Stephen Quake, Ph.D. is the Lee Otterson Professor of Bioengineering and Professor of Applied Physics at Stanford University. Since 2016, he has been co-President of the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub, a nonprofit medical research organization located in San Francisco. From 2006 to 2016, he was an investigator for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, a non-profit medical research organization. Prior to joining the faculty at Stanford University, he was a professor of applied physics and physics at the California Institute of Technology. 

He is currently the Scientific Founder and Director of Bluestar Genomics, Inc.; Molecular Stethoscope, Inc.; Mirvie, Inc.; and IgGenix, Inc. He was also a scientific founder of several other companies, including Fluidigm Corporation, CareDX, Inc., Verinata Health, Inc. (now part of Illumina, Inc.) and KariusDX.

Dr. Quake received his Bachelor of Science in physics and Master of Science in mathematics from Stanford University. He received his Doctor of Philosophy in theoretical physics from the University of Oxford as a Marshall Scholar.
