Robert Barchi

Robert Barchi, M.D., Ph.D. is President Emeritus of Rutgers University. Prior to that, he served as President of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He is a trustee of the RWJBarnabas Health System and of the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He previously served on the Boards of Covance, Inc. (NYSE: CVD) and VWR International (Nasdaq: VWR).

Dr. Barchi received his Doctor of Philosophy in biochemistry and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania and is a board-certified neurologist. He is a fellow of the American Neurological Association, the American Academy of Neurology and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He was elected to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences for his research on voltage-gated ion channels in nerve and muscle.
