Frequently asked questions

When can I change my benefits?
You can change your benefits during open enrollment, which happens every year in the late October, early November timeframe, with changes made taking effect January 1st. Otherwise, you can change your benefits in the middle of the year if you experience a qualifying event (such as marriage/divorce, birth of a dependent, you or a dependent gaining or losing coverage elsewhere, etc.) and submit your qualifying event to ExponentHR within 30 days of the event.
How can I change my benefits?
You can change your benefits in ExponentHR, by navigating to “Report a Life Event” under your Benefits header. From there, you can select the appropriate Qualifying Life Event and follow the steps to submit your changes. You will need to provide qualifying event documentation, a document or combination of documents that includes who was/is covered under what coverages, when those coverages ended (or began), and why.
Can I cover my domestic partner on my medical, dental, or vision benefits?
Yes, if you complete the Affidavit of Domestic Partnership, certifying that the listed requirements are true. If your domestic partner meets the IRS definition of a qualifying relative, they will be eligible for tax-free coverage – complete the Certification of Domestic Partner’s Qualification for Tax-Free Health Coverage.
