Chief Legal Counsel

Melody Harris joined SomaLogic as Chief Legal Officer in April 2018. Previously, Ms. Harris was Vice President and Chief Counsel of Qualcomm Life, where she led the legal, global privacy, and the Quality, Regulatory & Compliance groups. Ms. Harris joined Qualcomm Life with the acquisition of HealthyCircles, where she served as General Counsel. At HealthyCircles, Ms. Harris built the legal and compliance functions from the ground up and advised on early-stage product development related to data and privacy by design.

Prior to HealthyCircles, Ms. Harris held a variety of senior leadership positions, serving as President & General Counsel of an international IP management firm, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of an international software development and consulting firm, and Senior IP counsel to U S WEST/Qwest. Her core strength and experience center around technology and data-centric business models. She has the advantage of having run the business side of the house, including business development, licensing, operations, HR, M&A transitions, and business affairs, which helps her bring practical, business-focused solutions to her legal and compliance roles.

Ms. Harris is strongly committed to her community and has served in multiple public roles including as a Trustee of Metropolitan State University of Denver (gubernatorial appointment), Director of the Stapleton Development Corporation (mayoral appointment), member of two Colorado gubernatorial transition committees, policy advisor to Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and member of his transition team, and energy policy advisor and writer of the Bill Ritter for Governor campaign’s New Energy Economy white paper in 2006.

Ms. Harris holds a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in Political Science from the University of Denver and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the Harvard Law School.
