Fintan Steele, Chief Corporate Communications & Culture Officer, joined SomaLogic in 2011. His background includes more than 25 years of experience in translating and communicating scientific research, particularly the science (and its implications) behind the “omics revolution.” Steele was previously Director of Communications and scientific education at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. Prior to the Broad, he was Vice President and Global Head of Communications for the Novartis Institutes of BioMedical Research.
After receiving his Ph.D. in biological sciences from the University of Notre Dame in 1990, Steele completed post-doctoral studies at the National Institutes of Health and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. After leaving active research in 1993, Steele held several editorial positions for public and private scientific publishers, including “News” and “News & Views” editor for Nature Medicine, executive editor of Genomics, founding executive editor of Molecular Therapy and executive editor of Nucleic Acid Therapeutics, the journal of the Oligonucleotide Therapeutics Society.
Steele also holds a M.Div. degree from the St. Meinrad School of Theology and a Masters in medical ethics and religious studies from Indiana University, where he focused on ethical issues in genetics and medicine.
